Find Your Voice
Hola, I am Laura, and I believe in finding your voice. In our journey together, we will process your past traumatic experiences, decrease your anxiety and/or depression, and make sense of those symptoms.
When you understand what you want and need and why you want it, you can start to develop your voice – the one never heard by anyone. We begin to put into words what you feel and think and what does and does not feel ok. Expressing those feelings and thoughts will make you feel less paralyzed, afraid, insignificant, and voiceless.
Finding your voice will help you set boundaries in your relationships because you can now communicate. You become less avoidant and start looking forward to connecting with your friends and loved ones. The idea of them needing you is less overwhelming because now you can help them on your terms and by choice.
Spend Time on You
Setting aside time for self-care to replenish your heart, body, and mind becomes more accessible, allowing you not to short-change yourself by understanding your value.
You will know your non-negotiables and decide who you want to become part of your life. The people who mistreated you in the past must now learn to respect you. The toxic relationships that ruled in the past are no longer around because you stopped giving in to unhealthy emotional dynamics. Now your focus is on your well-being and peace of mind.
Culture can influence how you find your voice.
If you are multicultural, we will talk about your culture of origin and where you are now relative to adapting to the mainstream culture. We will discuss whether your family expectations are congruent with what you want and need and how this emotionally impacts you.
To bring peace of mind and satisfaction to your life, we will determine how you can become a multicultural hybrid rock star! We will talk about which values of your culture you want to keep and decide how much individualism or collectivism you wish to abide by in your daily life.
By determining these intricate details of navigating your world, you can allow yourself to be unabashedly you!
About Laura Ramirez
Culture influenced my voice.
Unfortunately, in my culture of origin, many people could not develop their voice due to political turmoil, not having access to education, or lacking opportunities for growth and self-development.
After working hard to find my voice, my mission in life is to help you find your voice and hold your hand in the journey toward meeting your true self.
My experiences inspire me to help along your journey.
I enjoy working with individuals who suffer from anxiety and/or depression, struggle with self-esteem or sexuality issues, or want to build a strong identity. Some of my clients deal with suicidal ideation and have an internal voice that says, “You are not good enough.”
I want to help people who are single and long to be in a relationship or who need to grieve the loss of a loved one or what they expected to happen and did not happen.
Some individuals want to learn how to communicate and set healthy boundaries, and others are multicultural and stuck in the limbo of contradicting expectations from their family and mainstream culture.
I help couples who want to learn how to communicate effectively, validate each other and truly see each other, discern if they’re going to stay together or break up, or feel helpless, hopeless, and stuck in their relationship.
My training is diverse.
I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Business Administration Degree. I dedicated some years of my life to the entertainment industry and continue to do so sporadically.
I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s University of Los Angeles with a Marriage and Family Therapy Degree with a Bilingual Enlaces Certificate. I am currently in the process of obtaining an Emotionally Focused Therapy Certification.
My life outside of therapy includes…
…being outdoors while enjoying hikes, bonfires, and the beach. Those natural experiences soothe my soul.
When I am not seeing clients, I mostly hang out with my beautiful son Buddy! I also enjoy horseback riding and spending time with my significant other, friends, and family. My consistent personal work, spirituality, and support system are what carry me through life.
