Couples therapy helps resolve conflicts.
Many of my couples need tools to communicate successfully and learn how to see the other person and validate each other honestly. As I explain it to my couples, there needs to be an emotional bridge built from partner A to partner B and vice versa. That bridge allows each person in the relationship to be seen, understood, and embraced. The key is not agreeing; the main goal is connection.
I take an emotionally focused therapy approach with the work that I do with my couples. The relationship is my client as opposed to each partner in the relationship. If you would like the relationship to work out, I am rooting for you every step of the way, and I will not stop working hard until you are both satisfied with your relational dynamics.
Move to the same team…
Couples can improve dysfunctional relational dynamics if both partners are on the same team and willing to dive deeply into the narratives that feed these dysfunctional patterns. They will need to step outside of themselves and into their partner’s shoes to fully understand the other. If there is love, respect, and admiration, healing and progress are possible.
There is also a possibility that therapy will shine a light on significant ways the couple is not compatible. If this is the case, the couple might want to start discernment counseling to decide if they’re going to stay together or go their separate ways.
A lifetime commitment requires making the proper connection.
Relationships through either marriage or a partnership require constant nurturing, understanding, and mutual commitment. Daily emotional contracts need to be followed, revised, and/or renewed to stay connected.
Couples therapy provides the encouragement and tools to grow together rather than apart.
It’s never too early to start gaining understanding, and couples therapy can help you identify issues before marriage or the formation of a partnership. Conflicts are likely to arise in your relationship, and an early resolution of those conflicts empowers the relationship. If no solution exists, couples therapy helps you make an amicable decision.
My goal is to help improve your relationship objectively by encouraging you along the way.
Let’s work together to help resolve issues before they become significant problems.
